Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) organization’s most and least effective leadership styles
Carolinas Healthcare System (CHS) organization’s most and least effective leadership styles
Over the past two weeks, you have examined various leadership styles. As there is no “one size fits all” leadership style, different leaders typically demonstrate different styles or a combination of styles. Likewise, the leadership styles of any one leader may vary depending upon the situation or organizational context; that is, a leader may modify his or her style depending on what the situation calls for.
Indeed, some leadership styles are more fitting for certain situations and organizational contexts. To culminate the section on leadership styles, you are asked to apply a leadership style to an organization for which you work or have worked. Doing so will allow you to see how some leadership styles are more appropriate than others in certain
organizational settings and contexts.
The assignment (1–2 pages):
Describe the organization you selected.
Describe a leadership style that would be most effective in the organization you selected and explain why.
Describe a leadership style that would be least effective in the organization you selected and explain why.
Explain at least one insight you had or conclusion you drew about the applicability of leadership styles in organizational settings based on completing this assignment.
The most effective leadership in CHS organization would be servant leadership. While leadership gets described as the activity of influencing processes between leaders and followers to achieve organizational goals, servant leaders yearn to serve first (Hannay, 2009). Servant leadership has gotten to emerge from the leader’s principles, value-system and beliefs driven by a strong self-image, emotional astuteness and moral conviction (Greenleaf, 2010).
