One must note that clinical assessment is not only done at the beginning of the treatment process but throughout its entirety (APA, 2013). First and foremost, a determination must be made as to whether a patient needs any form of treatment or not depending on the signs and symptoms and how they affect his or her activities of daily living.
An unstructured interview does not use an already prepared set of questions. In this case the health care providers asks open ended questions and will try as much as possible to let the responses flow in in a natural manner (Drummond et al, 2015). Questions can be tailored to a particular client. This form of interview is dynamic meaning that the interview can take any shape or form depending on the client’s condition and help the health professional in understanding the client better.
