numerous scandals have been witnessed in recent times. Failure to adhere to business ethics has

serious consequences for the company and the investors. The company loses its image and

customers and may face lawsuits while the investors lose their money. Therefore, it is vital for

companies to adhere to proper accounting practices. This paper explores the Adelphia

Communications scandal which was uncovered in 2002. The major ethical issues concerning this

case are highlighted. The paper also discusses deontological ethics and Immanuel Kant’s

categorical imperatives and applies them to the Adelphia Communications case.
