It is the wish of every loving parent to bring up healthy children. However, there are
various environmental factors that pose serious threats to the health of infants. Pesticides are one
of such environmental factors. In fact, pesticides fall in the category of the five worst
environmental threats to the health of infants (National Resources Defense Council (NRDC),
2012, para 1). Pesticides are chemicals made for purposes of killing, controlling and repelling
insects, plant diseases, weeds, rodents, and germs. Pesticides are largely used in agricultural
production. They are also used to ward off unwanted organisms in homes, parks, hospitals and
office buildings.
