“Break an issue into its constituent parts. Look in depth at each part using supporting arguments and evidence for and against as well as how these interrelate to one another.”
“Provide evidence taken from a wide range of sources which both support and contradict an argument. Give your verdict as to what extent a statement or findings within a piece of research are valid, or to what extent you agree with them. Come to a final conclusion, basing your decision on what you judge to be the most important factors and justify how you have made your choice.”
- Your assessment is worded: A balanced professional report which presents an evaluation of the sustainability of the EU policy “By 2020, 10% of transport fuel in the European Union should be supplied from biofuels”.
- You are expected to assess the sustainability of the EU policy using the advantages and disadvantages you have identified.
- Remember that the policy currently limits the use of first-generation biofuels to 7% of fuel used in transport in the EU.
- The remaining 3% must be sourced from advanced biofuels which in practice means second-generation biofuels.
- Do not include third-generation biofuels
