Diversity in Criminal justice

Race refers to groups into which human beings are classified depending on common physical features among individuals from the same ancestry. A minority is a section of a population with some characteristics that differentiate them from others, and they often receive differential treatment. Inclusion refers to the practice of accommodating individuals who have been excluded historically because of attributes such as their gender, ability, race, or sexuality.

There are differences in the concepts of prejudice, implicit bias, and discrimination. Prejudice refers to negative feelings and attitudes towards people based on their membership in certain social groups (Spielman et al. 429). On the other hand, discrimination involves negative actions towards people because of their membership in a certain group. Lastly, implicit bias refers to the unconscious association of certain characteristics to members of a particular social group. The three concepts are related as implicit bias can cause prejudice, while the latter can influence how people treat others, leading to discrimination.
