How do gender roles and expectations reflect the broader concerns about social order in the pre-modern world?

For this paper you will select one of the following three topics; World Empires,

Belief Systems, and Gender Roles from the Bronze Age to 1500 CE.

You must use at least four scholarly sources found in the Ashford University

Library. You must also use one primary source that does not come from the weekly

Required Reading lists, but may come from the weekly Recommended Reading

lists. Alternatively, you may use the bibliography and links provided in the Ashford

Online Library research guide for HIS103 to select books in ebrary format or

primary sources from various repositories. Select the [research guide icon] to

navigate to the Ashford University Library research guide for this class and review

a list of potential sources organized by the three topics. You are encouraged to also

search for scholarly articles using databases such as JSTOR and ebsco, accessible

via the Ashford University Library, being sure to choose “peer reviewed” and “full-

text” as part of your search parameters.

Policies tab in the left navigation toolbar in your online course, as well as the AU

Writing Center website, specifically, Types of College Writing, Research Papers,

and Student Writing Standards.

Writing the Final Paper

The Final Paper:

Must be six to eight double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to

APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center

Must include a title page with the following:

Title of paper

Student’s name

Course name and number

Instructor’s name

Date submitted

Must include the following Content Criteria

Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct and developed thesis

statement

Topic examples are relevant, well-developed, and accurate.

Topic examples are sufficient in number and variety.

Must address the topic of the paper with critical analysis and original thought.

Show evidence of Final Paper Preparation Assignment feedback being applied.

Must exhibit the following Writing Skills

Written Communication: Control of syntax and mechanics.

Syntax and Mechanics

Must include the following Research Criteria

List at least four sources that meet Ashford University standards for academic

sources,

two from the Ashford University Library, and

one primary source not from the list of required readings.

Body of text show evidence that listed sources were used in its preparation.

Must include the following Style Criteria

Must be written using APA Formatting.

Must be six to eight pages in length.

Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as

outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Please select one of the following three topics as the focus of your Final Paper,

World Empires, Belief Systems, and Gender Roles from the Bronze Age to 1500

CE.

World Empires:

How did empires developed in the pre-modern world (from the Bronze Age to

1500CE)? Choose two world empires and explain at least three strategies each

employed to create, expand, and defend imperial rule.

How do societies express or demonstrate their religious beliefs? Explain key

elements of two major belief systems (prehistory to 1500CE) and the manner in

which they form an integral part of the society where they hold meaning. Think

about how a society’s political system, social patterns, art or architecture, economic

system, or other institutions reflect religious belief.
