Information literacy is a crucial aspect in different fields of life. It is a universal skill. It
entails the capacity to not only realize when there is a need for information but also identify,
establish, assess, interpret and make use of information. Information literacy is deemed to be a
skill that allows individuals to make informed decisions, since information is power. Information
literacy empowers individuals to make right judgments in whatever situation they face (Cheek &

Information literacy is related to nursing and midwifery practice. Health professionals in
the nursing and midwifery fields should be information literate. This is because they are
